Development and flexibility

 

The regional warehouse in Sosnowies was created to serve foreign markets and starting from March it will take over the role of previous warehouse in Mysłowice.  It shall mostly serve Inter Cars subsidiaries from the south of Europe, i.e. Czech, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, Romania and Bulgaria.  It is the biggest asset of the warehouse, as using a long-lasting experience of Inter Cars SA., ILS company has a perfectly developed transport and distribution chain in above-mentioned countries. 

 

Although ILS is a logistics operator of Inter Cars SA., thanks to gained experience and know-how, the company opens for cooperation with new Customers.  The warehouse in Sosnowiec has a lot to offer.  Besides aformentioned foreign delivery routes, also the total storage area is impressive.  The premises are on the area of almost 52,000 sq. m. and 25,000 sq. m. of this is the storage area of the warehouse.  Ultimately it is to be the second biggest Logistics Centre of ILS. 

 

The first one will be currently constructed Logistics Centre in Zakroczym, with a storage area of 40,000 sq.m.  Its construction shall be finished in 2016.  Four-level rack system with shelves and pallet places will be built on the area of 6,400 sq.m., which will result in total storage area of over 35,000 sq.m.  The rack system was constructed of over 1,000 tons of steel.  In order to make it a bit clearer to understand, to transport such a weight, one would need 40 Feber semi-trailers with loading capacity of 25 tons each. 

 

New place, new system

The warehouse in Sosnowiec is serviced by a new IT system WMS (Warehouse Management System). It is a module which serves logistics on a warehouse area, whose solutions allow for refreshing processes, optimizing and shortening work on the warehouse.  First of all this gives new technological possibilities, makes moving around the warehouse more efficient and supports management of warehouse structure, i.e. coordinates the whole process of unloading, reloading, storing and distribution.  Thanks to this solution one can make processes more efficient when necessary, e.g. when planning the movement of forklift trucks, so that they do not perform unnecessary work.  They are not to disturb nor delay one another, or use up to much energy.  The WMS also controls order realization, helps to find goods for order collecting, shows where the goods really are and where they should be. 

 

Currently over 450 people work in the warehouse in Sosnowiec. 5 days a week in three shifts system, on Saturdays till 2:00 p.m. and on Sundays starting at 10:00 p.m.   Implementation of the new WMS shall not influence staff reduction, but shall increase work productivity and influence better work planning.  

New infrastructure combined with modern IT system and the character of the company, makes ILS a company with unique offer on Polish market.  With technological development and implementing modern science logistics solutions, the company remains very flexible and able to adapt to individual needs of the customer.
