In the middle of February there was an extraordinary session, during which the councillors agreed for 15.8ha area to be included in Varmia and Masuria Economic Zone. It turned out that they are located on so called firing ground and they were bought by Inter Cars in order to build there a new logistic centre. The initiator of joining this are to the Zone was Inter Cars itself, which convinced local authorities that this will also influence development of Zakroczym parish.

- First plan was to build on the area of 20sqm, based on currently used logistic technology. The value of such investment was estimated on the level of around PLN 75m in the period of three years – wrote ILS Board members, Inter Cars subsidiary and also operator of the investment.

The Company thinks that joining to economic zone will allow to increase the building area to at least 40 thousand square meters, And maximum even up to 60,000sqm in the next five years. Estimates show that value of investment will be no less than PLN 155m, and employment will reach the level of even 650 people. The Company said that missing parts of infrastructure, i.e. gas-main, sewerage system and IT media will be built on its own expense between 2014 and 2015.

- Being in the zone allows companies to apply for public funds, about which the Finance Minister decides. Tax relief are even up to 30% of the cost of investment – says Henryk Ruszczyk, Mayor of Zakroczym.

The Mayor hopes that the area will be joined to economic zone in July. In the future he intends to apply also other areas to be joined to the zone. The condition to do this will be building technical infrastructure with external subsidising or by the companies that are already there.

- Right now the parish did not have to bear any cost, as Inter Cars decided to cover all the costs. Probably we will be applying for funds for other grounds, as the parish cannot cope with such investment itself – explains H. Ruszczyk.
